Why Read Books?
My little brother brought me his favorite book, "Becca, would you read me a book?" I took the book he held and he climbed up on the couch next to me. The book was Petunia by Roger Duvoisin, one I had read to him a dozen times. I read the familiar book about a goose who, finding a book in the meadow, remembers something she heard Mr. Pumpkin say: "He who owns Books and loves them is wise." And so, Petunia carries the book under her wing, thinking it will make her wise...
I love books! Unfortunately, I do not have much time to devote to reading. I wish that I could say that I have read all of the books on our shelves, but I cannot. When I do read a good book, I love to tell people about them! My purpose for this page is to not only tell you about some of the books I have read, but to encourage you to READ books, not just own them. As Petunia said: "Now I understand. It was not enough to carry wisdom under my wing. I must put it in my mind and in my heart. And to do that I must learn to read."
